If you are looking to take the next step in your surfing and become a coach this is the course for you!
The International Surfing Association(ISA) recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the world governing authority for the sport of surfing, the ISA Surf Coaching & Instructing Educational Program is the international standard for accreditation of Coaches and Instructors in the surf school industry.
Surfing England (SE), recognised National Governing Body (NGB) for Surfing in England and the ISA have teamed up to bring you the most comprehensive and up to date Surf Coach Qualification available. Aiming to ensure safe and successful surf coaching, whilst encouraging progression for all levels of ability.
Zoee Jones of Saltburn Surf School is the only course presenter in North England. Working with all Surf Schools along the coast and independent coaches to make the qualification accessible to the North of England.
Surfing England’s recognised qualification for Surf coaching in England is the ISA/Surfing England Surf Coach Level 1 award which allows you to seek employment at hundreds of surf schools in England and in countries all over the world. The course covers all aspects of surf education including surf safety, surfing & coaching techniques along with group management. Successful trainees go on to work as professional surf coaches, introducing beginners and helping improvers enjoy wave riding or take their surfing to the next level.
At least 2 years surfing experience, being able to catch unbroken waves and trim left and right.
Must attend a water safety course or currently hold one.
Needs to arrange a place/Surf School to do training hours – Zoee can help with putting you in contact with schools if you don’t have one arranged.
Level 1:
2nd – 3rd April – location Saltburn By The Sea
18-19th June – location Saltburn By The Sea
17-18 Sept – Location Saltburn By The Sea
Level 2:
May – Location Saltburn By The Sea.
We will also be running the SLSGB Surf Coach Safety and Rescue award along side these course. They are 3 day courses and cost £250. Your place can be secured on these at the same time should you not already hold a relevant water safety award.
Course Duration: 2 Days, folllowed by 20 training hours to be signed off by a ISA Level 1 Coach.
Price includes 1 year Surfing England Surf Coach Membership worth £45 and 1 year ISA membership.
